On April 12, 2023, Governor Laura Kelly announced that $100,000 in funding would be granted to create new healthcare apprenticeship programs at PRMC and Labette Health. These apprenticeship programs are focused on providing Southeast and Western Kansas residents opportunities to train for high-demand, high-earning healthcare jobs.
Tammy Smith, PRMC President and CEO, commented on the announcement. “This is an innovative way to attract and retain healthy career-minded people, and we are enthusiastic to be part of it.”
