A Community Hospital from The Start
The Pratt County Hospital is a testament to the dedication and foresight of its founders. The hospital has been serving Pratt and the surrounding region for decades, starting in the 1930s with a group of county leaders with vision for and dedication to Pratt and the surrounding region. Thanks to the vision and commitment of the Pratt County Commissioners, the Pratt County Hospital Board of Trustees, and physicians, the hospital became a reality.
Originally envisioned as a city hospital, the focus shifted to a county hospital after World War II, due to a shortage of building materials and increased costs. The county hospital proposition passed in April 1947, and the groundbreaking ceremony took place on November 15, 1948.
