Tests and Pricing
What is LabDIRECT?
LabDIRECT is our direct-access testing program allowing consumer-initiated laboratory testing that does not require a physician order.
Where do I go to get LabDIRECT testing?
LabDIRECT testing is only available at PRMC. Signup with volunteers at the Front Desk by the North Entrance.
Do I have to have an appointment?
No. Appointments are not necessary. At most, there will be a short wait. Hours of operation are above.
How and when do I pay for my LabDIRECT testing?
PRMC requires payment at the time of services for all LabDIRECT testing. Specimens will not be collected until payment is made in full. Acceptable forms of payment include credit/debit cards and cash. PRMC does not accept personal checks for LabDIRECT testing.
How do I get my test results?
Results will be available through the PRMC Patient Portal and via mail, upon request.
When will I get my test results?
LabDIRECT testing results are generally available within 24 hours after specimen collection through the PRMC patient portal. If you requested that we mail your results, you should receive them in the mail in three to five days.
Who reviews LabDIRECT testing results?
PRMC laboratory will perform your LabDIRECT testing and provide your results; however, LabDIRECT results are not interpreted by a physician, laboratory staff, or any other healthcare provider. PRMC does not review or interpret your LabDIRECT results. All consumers requesting testing through LabDIRECT are urged to seek, without delay, the expertise of a healthcare professional skilled in the interpretation of diagnostic tests and treatment of medical conditions.
Will my doctor get a copy of my results?
No. Federal and State regulations which govern consumer-initiated laboratory testing prohibit sending results to your healthcare provider. You are urged to seek, without delay, the expertise of a healthcare professional skilled in the interpretation of diagnostic tests and treatment of medical conditions. You can send your results to your healthcare provider directly through the PRMC patient portal. If you requested a copy of your results be sent through the mail, you can share a copy of the results.
Why are the prices so low?
LabDIRECT does not deal with private insurance companies or government insurance plans (i.e., Medicare or Medicaid). By eliminating the “middle man” (insurance), and the costs of billing and rebilling insurance companies, we can pass the savings on to you, the consumer.
Will you bill my insurance?
No, insurance plans generally do not pay for LabDIRECT (direct-access) testing as they are not ordered by a healthcare provider.
What if I have insurance? Will this be more affordable?
LabDIRECT testing is best-suited for consumers who have no insurance or high-deductible insurance plans. Also, since we do not bill your insurance, these services will not count towards your annual deductible. Depending on many factors, it may be more affordable to have testing ordered through your healthcare provider. Since insurance plans are different for each consumer and insurance carrier, you may wish to check with your insurance to determine if LabDIRECT services are right for you.
