PRRC Earns Four Stars

Choosing a nursing home is an important decision. Families want their loved one to receive high quality care from caregivers who are compassionate and dedicated to their work. At Pratt Rehabilitation and Residence Center (PRRC), that’s just what you’ll find.

Pratt Regional Medical Center is proud of the Four out of Five Star Overall Quality Rating earned by our staff and caregivers at Pratt Rehabilitation and Residence Center!  PRRC is a 45-bed, long and short term skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility.

“We work hard every day to provide our residents with high quality, compassionate care,” PRRC Administrator Richard Bell said. “Our staff deserves to be recognized for the great care that they provide.”

The Five-Star Quality Rating system comes from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Nursing home ratings come from health inspections, staffing and quality measures. A star rating is provided for each of these three sources, in case some areas are more important to you than others. Then, these three ratings are combined to calculate an overall rating.

PRRC received an overall rating of four stars, scoring five stars for staffing, four stars for quality measures and three stars for health inspection. Nursing homes vary in the quality of care and services they provide to their residents. This information gives you a "snap shot" of the care individual nursing homes give.

The rating system is just one way to help choose the right nursing home. “We encourage families to come and visit PRRC,” Bell said. “Spending time with current residents and visiting with staff helps families to feel comfortable about making the decision to choose us for care.”

Consumers are able to go online and compare ratings of the nursing homes they are considering by going to http://www.medicare.gov/nursinghomecompare/search.html. Nursing Home Compare allows consumers to compare information about nursing homes. It contains quality of care information on every Medicare and Medicaid-certified nursing home in the country, including over 15,000 nationwide.

Be aware that nursing homes aren't included on Nursing Home Compare if they aren't certified to participate in Medicare or Medicaid. These nursing homes can be licensed by the state, but you should seek more information about these nursing homes from the Kansas State Survey Agency.
