Pratt Regional Medical Center is celebrating National Hospital Week May 12-18. “Hospital Week, first and foremost, is a celebration of people,” Susan Page, PRMC President and CEO said. “We’re extremely proud our staff, volunteers and medical staff. We recognize the important role they play in extending a sense of trust to our patients and our communities.”

This week PRMC will honor sixty-four employees at their annual Service Awards banquet. Employees are recognized for their years of service to PRMC every five years. “This year we have four employees celebrating 35 years, one at 30 years, two at 25 years and five with 20 years of service,” Page said. “This is one of my favorite events. It is such an honor to get to personally thank each one of them for what they do. We are one big family.”

This year’s Hospital Week theme is “A Guiding Light for Changing Times.” A hospital is more than a place where people go to heal, it is a part of the community that fosters health and represents hope. From providing treatment and comfort to the sick, to welcoming new life into the world, hospitals are central to a healthy and optimistic community.

All week long, PRMC employees will celebrate by participating in activities such as a construction hat decorating contest, a group photo, and a free lunch served by PRMC’s Administrative Staff.

National Hospital Week dates back to 1921 when it was suggested by a magazine editor who hoped a community wide celebration would alleviate public fears about hospitals. The celebration, launched in Chicago, succeeded in promoting trust and goodwill among members of the public and eventually spread to facilities across the country.
